i heard that if you remove your resonator your exhaust will get a little louder. is that true ? and would it effect my car in any other way ? by the way i would still have a cat.

hes talkin about the exhaust resonaotr!!!

theres two, one for exhaust, one for intake

yes if you take off exhaust resonator it will get louder since a resonator's purpose is to quiet down whatever it is placed in front of. dont know bout the cat tho...

removing the resonator should not effect the car in any way other than making it a little louder. I have not done this to my car yet but have done it on a taurus and it improved the sound of the car imediately.

i did it sounds nice not too loud but definatly sounds better havent had any trouble from po's yet just put a tip on it and leave the resonator on but disconnected......... i did the same with the intake and replaced with a staright tube running down lower for colder air..... i think it added a couple hp's not much but definatly feels more torquey

on an lx, just follow the exhaust piping and you'll find it around/before the all the rear suspension.

removing the resonator on your intake would probably lower you power. Not by much, because right now your car sucks air from the lower left side of your car toward your left headlight. If you remove the resonator, its going to be sucking air from air around the engine, so it will be hotter air then stock. Most cases hot air causes a loss in power. If you do remove it you will probably have to add some kind of piping to suck colder air, which case its easier just to get sri.

you can probably do that. Not sure if the tube that connects to the resonator will fit on your air box. If you do a search on ebay they have those already premade, with the tubing that connects to the stock airbox. Some of them even come with heat shields. I just gotta warn you, its going to be a lot louder, especially on the highway. When i had my AEM SRI in my car, the sound was nice, especially when you hit above 3k rpms. Only draw back was the fact that no one could hear me on my cell phone when i was driving on the highway.

Yea, I got my resonator taken off a while back and got an OBX muffler put on; its sounds a good bit louder to me, definently has a mean tone to it. I went through a car garage and it hurt my ears. No horsepower gains, this isn't dream world.
