I think of it like this as of air to be sucked in...
When you start the car...gases go out...
When you turn off the car....everything comes back in....
i dunno im weird....that's the only explanation i could come up with myself to find out why mine was doing it to....im no expert mechanic so that's just my noob reasoning hahahahaa.

If you listen while its running, it hisses. It makes the whoosh sound because the engine vaccum stops when you shut it off, so as the pressure equalizes to the atmosphere, it makes the sound you hear.

oh shoOT...i was lookin at intake picture...and i noticed i put the rubber things backwards....the colored rubber wid the word AEM on it...i used that on the TB instead of using it as the connector for the "J" bend pipe....and used the black one to connect the two...does it really matter which one i used??? cuz they both fit either way

goddam, we get fulltime responses about an intake making this mysterious hissing noise but when people post serious info, no responses LOL

off topic question, what you guys think about the apexi power filter onto an aem sri ? auto if it matters.

I love the hissing sound mine makes!
I noticed that when I first turn on the car, until I hit the gas, it hisses really loudly. Sounds evil and cool
It also lets out a death rattle when I shut it off, hissssssssss. I likee.

I am not sure how it broke... BUT, take note everyone, when the engine is in stress (going up a hill from a stop, flooring it, etc), they engine WILL move back about an inch. How do I know, I had my brother stand outside, me driving, hood open, on a very steep hill. Where the bracket is placed and bolted down, that piece doesnt move with the engine but the rest of the intake is... I dont know..... in some ways I felt it was inevitable.... but of the ppl on this site, I am 1 of very few with broken intakes..
