Hondata Chip
Hondata Chip
Hey guys, as of now hondata does not make a chip that is specifically made for our cars. I was thinking maybe if we could have a list put together of all the people who would be interested, I could maybe e-mail them and see if they would consider creating a chip for our cars. If you guys would purchase a chip, if it was created, please leave a post and I'll see if I can do anything about it.
7/14/04 @ 11:57PM***I emailed them informing them of the high interest about the chip because I'm sure a lot of you would want it, just keep posting and as soon as they respond I'll let you guys know whats going on. If they say no we won't give up that easy :-) just keep posting

^you never know, when i first emailed hondata to ask if there was anything for the d17...they said no, but a lot of people HAVE asked about it, and i'm pretty sure with enough interest, they definitely would do it....i mean, the d-series civics are just as common as the k-series combined out there...it's something hondata should be looking into...
Well, from what I have heard (keep in mind that this is just speculation) The D series engine will be no more when the 8th gen is developed...Therefore, I personally don't think they will take the time to develop it when everything will soon have a K series in it. I also heard that they did some R&D for the D17 and didn't get enough gain to make a flash for our application. Who knows???

best of luck, you are not the only one that has tried this. If you used the search button you would find a huge thread about it.
I found one other one, but hey I mean leaving a simple post isn't going to hurt anyone. I can show them the link and we can also all email them asking. If they see they are going to make a profit out of it, I don't see why they would not make the chip.

because it wouldn't be beneficial to them to do something for the D17 thats why they won't do it. If they get a couple hundred people wanting one they still won't do it. Look at a bigger company like Jackson Racing or Greddy, Jackson Racing won't make a super charger even though there are alot of people on this one board that are interested, because it isn't beneficial to them. Same with Greddy and them making a turbo kit.
^you are wrong....
and no offence, but here's an example...look at eldelbrock....the d16 came out for sooo long, yet, they never made anything for that car for the longest time? but in the last year, they've made sooo many parts for that car, after it was discontinued....like a bolt on turbo kit and also a high boost turbo kit....so there is still hope for our d17's even after they get discontinued

guys, if you don't feel there is a point posting, then by all means don't. I don't see why you have to say its pointless don't post etc. If it works out then great everyone is happy, if it doesn't then at least we tried rather than just saying I wonder if they'll make it, I hope they'll make it or whatever.
Just thought i'd let you guys know i just got a response from them.
"I'm sorry, but we have no plans to produce anything for the d17."
Doesn't look good :-(, my recommendation is that if we even want a chance at it email them with a simple line saying you own a D17A2 and that if the chip was created you along with many others would purchase the chip and tell them that there are many 7th gens therefore there would be a lot of sales. There email is sales@hondata.com

The thing about D16 there were already enough products out there. So Edlebrock decided to make their own trubo kit for it. But there is such a low demand for parts for the D17, so have fun dreaming. There is an economic rule you are forgetting. That rule is Supply and Demand, the D17 does not have nearly enough demand to create a supply for it.
