Thumbs up Gas MPG improvement: fuel injector cleaner rocks!

yo!

i though it might be useful to post this improvement of my mpg in here..

maybe some of you notice how i biatch up with my mpg..

however....one day i went to wal-mart... i bought one bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner....
it's the one with white bottle colored..

now...my car usually runs 25MPG.....either CITY or MIX CITY HIGHWAY...it's not far from 25MPG...that is, 300+ miles with 12 gallon of gas....

it's usually LOWER if it's CITY ONLY...

FYI, i drive granny like........2500-3000rpm...

NOW....basically....my fuel tank was half filled.....i went to DELTA SONIC gas station.....fill up the STP then full it up again to 12 gallon.....BTW, i filled 6 gallons at that time....meaning that the fuel needle's quite accurate....

so.....now i think there's a slightly great improvement..

USUALLY, 150 miles when the needle point halfway to Empty...
um...actually a lil' bit down from half...

right now, just now....it's 190 miles on the middle (halfway to empty)!!

YAY!
i wonder what's gonna happen to if i change my spark plugs with NGK IRIDIUM IX and change my oil to synthethic.....THEN use the CHEVRON TECHRON to clean my gas sprayer even more...

oh yeah, i think the STP effect's only HALF POWER....cos' i mixed it with the remaining 6 gallons.... I THINK, for best cleaning, u should fill the cleaner solution when your gas tank's empty.

HE HE...HE HE....HE HE...i hope i can get 400 miles!!!

OPINION WANTED!

yay!

hm....actually...im using the one for routine use.....everytime you change your oil...
that's the white bottle..

there's one with black colored bottle...which for every 3000 miles (oil change)

yesterday, I bought CHEVRON TECHRON for my next oil change.....which is not far from now...
it's kinda rare in my local wal-mart....so i bought one and save it....

what kind of cleaner do you use? STP?

i heard chevron's good...so i bought one...in this case, specially for my car's MPG...

hehehehe

maybe....

but 200 at half is very very good........400 on empty is everybody's hope.....

you can try STP white bottle.....but you might try the other stuffs....there are lots of em...
STP red bottle looks cheap....so i choosed the white one...there are others "higher" than the white bottle....

the white bottle is for routine use (gas refill), while the black bottle for oil change use...3000 miles...

i bought Chevron Techron just now...i heard that it's a real good stuff..

i plan to use it after i change my oil and finish this tank...hopefully i can get 400....

For the Chevron techron, make sure you get the fuel SYSTEM cleaner and not just injector cleaner.

its ppl like this that make me wonder... "why the F*CK doesn't my car get this kinda mileage"

then there's turboed people on the site who claim they get 400 miles to the tank as long as they don't spool too much. This is insane...i'd kill for 450+ miles on 12 gallons!

You and me both. I'm lucky to get 25mpg on a good run. And even that's an improvement over what I was getting before.

dang.....they made me droooooool...........

anyway, i forgot to tell you that on this tank...sometimes i rev it up till 4000rpm...
not so many times....but that means that i didn't exactly using the granny driving style....

I have an LX sedan 5 speed - now at 93,000 miles. Checked mileage the last couple of weeks which includes a 60 mile a day work commute - calculated to 36mpg.

I have noticed on the EX 5 speeds that I have drove that the engine rpms are higher than my LX - example my LX indicates 2500@ 60 mph and the 3 EXs I drove all indicated 2900rpm@ 60 mph. The same size engine in basically the same car turning 400 rpms more usually will not achieve the same gas mileage.

I have never used any kind of fuel injector cleaner - all brands of gasoline contain detergent additives. But if everyone thinks it helps , will not hurt to try a bottle.

I gotta try that stuff... I'm getting 33 w/ no mods and obviously mostly city with a fair share of highway miles... I think that's pretty low considering the EPA's suggested 32-38 MPG.

So I'll try some of that...

good luck guys...

my opinion, try to use the STP white bottle..

don't use chevron...cos' it's pretty expensive...

the STP white bottle only cost ya $2, and the frequency is for every gas refill..

the chevron i showed you above is for every oil change (3000 miles)

When I had my 17' rims on...I average about 300-320 miles with a full tank of gas. When I switched the wheels with the stockies, I noticed that on a full tank of tank, I am now averaging 420-450.

It would end up being cheaper to use the chevron since you are only putting it in every 3k miles at $5 instead of every fillup at $2. You'll spend at least $20 between oil changes for the STP
