Carbon Fiber Hood?

Hey all i was just wondering if carbon fiber hoods serve any other purpose other than just looking kewl, i've been wondering this for a long time now so any help would be appreciated

yeah is that a problem, invasion? i just didn't kno if it conducted more heat away from the engine compartment than a normal sheet metal hood, thanx for the info everyone

carbon fiber lightweight? true
carbon fiber is not only light weight, it is a very strong man made material. carbon fiber is as light at aluminum, but yet, it is stronger than steel (people say 10x stronger). Formula 1 (F1) race car's chassis are made entirely of carbon fiber as well as there body. meaning that this is the safest material that wont break as much when you hit a wall going 200 mph. Ferrari also uses carbon fiber for their chassis.
