There's no difference really besides the safc II has more adjustment points and I am guessing is easier to tune. I don't think it will make that big of a difference. Go for which ever one u can get cheaper.

The **** on it is the SAFC II. The SAFC I has 6 buttons.
I think the SAFC I looks better, but most likely I will be going with II.
GO to ebay, and search (SAFC) you will come up with a few listing that comapres the old with the new.

It would be worth the money if you have a lot of mods that help with airflow. Such as intake, intake mani, tb, pnp head, and the rest of the exhaust. When adding that much more aitflow and then throwing more fuel.....you will be surprised how much HP you can gain.
check groupbuycenter.com
they dont have any on sale right now but ive seen brand new SAFCII's go for $290 shipped.
id invest in one and do all my adjustments on a dyno. this way you'll see what settings are netting you the most gains.
im thinking im either gonna get a greddy emanage or wait for aem to come out with theirs. unless i get an SAFCII for cheap. i just like the fact that the others will also give you the option to adjust your timing.
