Mugen exhaust
I have always loved my buddies mugen exhaust on his prelude and want one for my car... it an '03 EX coupe. I was thinking about getting a mugen catback system for an accord or lude or CRV or something like that, chopping of the tubing to ware I just have a muffer. Then custom bending my own pipes to the muffler at a local shop that's done this for me in past.
What I want is the impossible, a quite exhaust with a couple added horses. I like the stock sound (that's completly drowned out by the intake). But I'm not sure how much power this will yield for me.
Any ideas... I don't really care for the magna flow sound. I thought about the Apexi WS(i think) but I still am not as impressed with that as I am the sound of the Mugen on the lude and previous civics I've heard it on.
Anyone out there have any sound clips of anything other than the magna?

Might want to look at the RS*R EXMag system, very stock looking and very low tones.
INFO from RS*Rs site
ExMag features
- quietest exhaust note on the market (most applications)
- refined stealth like appearance
- ceramic coated mandrel bent piping
- dyno proven gains in horsepower and torque
- engineered in Japan
- signature RS-R exhaust tip
- constructed with 409 stainless steel for long life
With the street performance enthusiast in mind, RS-R developed the ExMag exhaust line to provide powerful gains in horsepower and torque while retaining a quieter exhaust note. It is a well known fact that it is extremely difficult to produce an exhaust system that makes good power without the excessive noise. However, through extensive R&D at RS-R Headquarters in Japan, all ExMag systems have been dyno proven to provide significant power increases over similar exhaust systems. Our "Exhaust Magic" lineup offers an excellent alternative to the noisy "coffee can" style of exhausts.
If you're tired of getting tickets and citations for excessive noise, this is the exhaust system you need. The classic styling and stealth like design will also help keep your car off the radar.

I'm really interested becasue I've looked around hear in ohio and only and can't find anything. MAybe I'm not looking in the right places though.

I was under the impression Mugen didnt do anything for the 7thgen. Looking on King Motorsports - Mugen products there is nothing for the 7thgen.
It might be possible to have the RSX system modified to fit your car but no absolutes

yes and no and that one.... a vtec motor needs a bigger system becuase of the breathing abilties at the top end. But the hatch (si) doesn't have the same exhaust channels we have and thus they won't be a direct fit.
The RSX conversion isn't a bad idea since I plan on a k20 swap in the fall or winter.

Yea im not saying its not possible. Im just sying that i dont think Mugen makes an exhaust for the 7thgen. Its possible to make one fit and Robin did it but its not designed nor was it R&Ded for the 7thgen. If he wants one go for it. Best bet is to get one from an RSX. Ive seen an RSX exhaust fit our cars with little modification. But i cant see spending that kinda cash on a Mugen exhuast just to cut teh piping a get the muffler. To each his own tho

I emailed a couple of garges in Japan that exported my CTR cams and ITR final drive to me, and they said there was no mugen for our cars.

Dragon, can you compare the loudness of the RS-R to a mugen or a magna...

honestly i havent had the chance to hear an authentic Mugen exhaust so i couldnt give you a fair assesment. I do however know the RS*R is a very subtle sounding system and focuses mainly on performance. Boilermaker has it on his car you might want to PM him and get his personal view on the system.

Lemme put the RSR this way... if you've got an intake... the intake is 2X as loud as the exhaust.
Just consider a stock exhaust with a lower note. At highway speed, the road noise is louder than the exhaust.

or he can post it on here. For what your looking for i think the RS*R would be a great choice and youll get the sound your looking for with the stock look you want. Its the most stock looking aftermarket exhaust on the market.

Did you bolt the system on yourself, or take it to a shop?
