Vis Cf Hood Fading, Turning Yellow!

i dont know about anybody else. but i have had my cf oem style hood from VIS for about a year now and it has faded or turned yellow on me. isnt VIS cf hoods uv protected or some crap like that? if anybody is experiencing this problem please inform me on what youre gonna do about it or what steps to take. VIS actually told me to wet sand it. im not ready to put any type of sand paper on my hood. what i cant figure out if its the actual fibers that are changing color or the apoxy coating. oh well, please input on your ideas. it would be very helpful.

wax will protect it and shine it. CF is not a plastic to whoever said that.

Kloverz has a little shameless behaviour in the past
My first CF hood was like that, it faded and then turn yellow, im not busting VIS here but there CF is sorry mine old one was VIS, best thing if its just the clear coat go back and reclear a the body shop and ask for the uv clear, but beside that you have to suffer the color changing CF hood.

My VIS c/f hood is being put on right now. Due to the fact that im painting the sides, he is adding a layer of clearcoat to the top to make it all even on top. Will this protect it even better from fading?

Oh, so its just about making sure you wax it enough? Thats no problem then...

Sum it up: Fading is caused by not waxing, or waxing enough?

yeah, the hoods are sprayed with a UV protectant and toped with clear. It's just like the paint on ur car......u wax it to protect it. CF hoods can last a long time if u protect them properly. But many ppl still neglect them.

I just got my VIS c/f hood but its OEM style and it does have the "pisser" holes in them, but does not have the actual pissers, lol.

ok listen up!

wax will do nothing for your hood turning yellow. wax protects from weathering really( pits and corsion of the paint and clear)...the reson why your hood turnd yellow is because they didnt use a UV protectent (clear coat) after it was done with the lay up. Some times in order to cut cost thell just use a UV protectent rezin, which by the way is not 100% UV protectent.

once the hood is done they just simply buff it and it looks like its cleard cuz that type of rezin polishes out nicly, but in a yr or two it will yellow on you...if you really wanted your cf parts to last a long time, once you buy it take it down to the paint shop and have them lay a couple of coats of clear on it and then buff it out...youll find that the shine will be thousands of times better then what you get from VIS..

your only option now is to either get a new hood or through a candy color over it...which looks really cool if you ask me...... heres a dash i did with a red candy overlay...under the color is just BLK CF....

hell yea .. i think u should just send it to VIS and demand refund or repair...

thats like saying.. i bought rims a year ago... and because they didnt use proper paint or CC on it they rusted and fell apart..

now thats your fault? NO ****ing way.
if they said to wet sand it ... tell them NP.. i will be sending the hood in the mail on your dollar to wet sand it.

dont let a big company just push u way ... dont say **** it.

DEMAND THE PRODUCT BE THE QUALITY THAT U PAY'D FOR. OTHERWISE WHY DID WE GO AND buy VIS?
last i checked we(us as people) buy from places like VIS so that **** like this wont happen. we assume we're buying quality products from quality companies....

TELL VIS.. well get 7thgen to boycott them ... thats a decent amount of people

I picked my VIS hood up the other day. LOL, seemed to be pretty good quality though...

You can tell a company cares when on the endges of the hood they have wood surrounding things to protect it, unliked the cheaper brands such as Matrxi Racing in which always arrive with broken edges...

http://kaminari.com/brandXhood.htm
Kaminari even dismantled a VIS hood to show how their quality is amazing!
though they call it brand X you will realize its a VIS

YEs Kaminari Backs thier claims you dont need to put pins in their hoods!!!
However they still recomend you have them incase of theft.
The long time myth about carbon hoods chopping off your head will not happen, they even luagh about it!
