Do the Dash Repair Fillers actually work?
while installing my seats I punched a screwdriver size indent and rip into my dash. I went to the body shop asked if I could repair the dash, as you all know thats incredibly difficult to do. So i have learned..... they gave me a number of a dash repar person that comes to your house and will match the patch and the whole with what they claim a 95 percent accuracy. I have never had this happen before is Steve my friend at the shop right or is this
. Do I really need to replace the dash?I made an apointment with the lady for tuesday, just wondering if its worth the 95 bucks.

To answer your question, I have seen these dash repairs (I work in car stereo, we use them to sometimes cover up screw holes when a customer wants to turn in their car) For the most part, the work looks great, the only noticible thing is the grain is missing. Depends on how big of a hole, but the filler is usually smooth, which doesn't match the grain of the rest of the dash. Just what I have seen, hope this helps...
Actually, when I worked at a stereo install shop, this sort of accident was all too common. If you get a good dash/interior repair guy, I am sure you will be amazed at how close he can get your dash back to original. We had irate customers looking at the repairs and being happy, so I am pretty confident that you will be happy. They repair the dash and colormatch the shade and texture, so you will have to actuall look pretty hard later on.
You could find a dash somewhere, though with shipping and all it might be fairly close to the 300 dollars for a new pad. Plus, it is a pretty long install.
Give them a shot, you might really be happy.
