Help!! Magnalfow cat back hight

Hey there!

I just put on a magnaflow cat back on my 03 civic ex and i am having some problems. Its only been on 2 days and i have scraped at least 10 times. i am not driving fast over speed bumps actually very slow. I have a couple problems with it.

1) My cat now sits very low and i know that is what scraps, not the U-bolts. do you have any sudgestions on how to get it to sit higher?

2)At the back of the car behind the muffler when the pipe goes over the sway bar, why does it go up so high. it is just missing my frame. Is it supose to be that close?

3) if there is water leaking out of the conections near the u-bolts (a few drips) does that mean i have an air leak?

thank you so much for your help. Adam.

hey i have the same problem, and i didn' even use the ubolts. i had it all welded together, which supposedly helps the sagging. but i still scrape everywhere. i needa figure out a solution to bolt the exhaust up onto the underbody of the car.

I am not sure if it makes a difference, but I took mine to shop and told them my issues and they adjusted it

I had similar problem: Air leaked badly when I first installed it myself, I think it's a design flaw in the muffler piping (connecting the pipes with u-bolts, and the pipes have 3 inch cuts in them), I had mine welded, but the guy did a shitty job, and it still leaks air.

if you had your car lowered then scraping is an issue. I suggest getting in welded by a muffler shop. I checked with magnaflow and they said welding the pipes will not void warranty. Also, the bend in the pipe comes very close to the body of the car, I wouldn't make it touch, you should be able to adjust the pipe so it wont touch.

Q: Anyone heard of Permatex? Its' supposed to be a sealant for mufflers/steel pipe. not sure of the spelling.
