Alright heres the story:

My friend backed into to my car when we were drunk, wrecking the trunk and the rear bumper.
So he said he would just fix it w/o going through insurance and all that. So I thought I might as well just get a carbon fiber trunk even though I dont have a CF hood YET (by the way I have an EBP coupe). My friend ordered the trunk and it comes in tomorrow....so my questions are as follows for the people who already have the trunk...

(I have searched and a few people have inquired about these hoods but the responses were pretty general like askin to show pics and such)


How long is the install time?

any problems that I should watch out for while installing?

Anything I should buy prior to installation?

About the trim peice above the license plate, that looks like in everyone elses pics stays the same color as the rest of the car..... I think it would look better carbon fiber as well.

Any suggestions?

I ordered my CF Trunk lid from Fiber Images back on Nov 7th and I still don't have it. They promised me that it would be here on monday but of course it didn't show up. If it ever gets here I will be writing up a DIY for everyone.

no kidding! VIS already has thiers out, and the only fitment problem ive ever seen was the key way not fitting right.

we should be picking it up from ShowstoppersUSA today. I believe it is the VIS one.

We sell carbon fiber trunks that VIS makes. The only problem, is the one jeepersxxx mentioned. The key hole is off by a milimeter or so. The problem can easily be fixed by putting some silicone around the inside of the trunk to seal it from water and to make the key hole snug. As for the trim piece above the license plate, the new trunks will come with it. Look for that feature in about a month or two. Right now we released a few sets of special ordered silver carbon fiber trunk and hood. They are currently being shipped to the US, so if anyone is interested, please PM me.

I have the trunk on my ride. its also ebp and i also bought it from my good friend chucky. but as far as the install it took less than an hour. thats including the time it took to dremel out the rest of the key hole. other than that the only thing that you have to do is lower the latch to make it sit a little more even all around. thats simple, its just like lowering the latch for your cf hood. well pm me if u need any help or ask me at the shop cuz im always there anyways. good luck

VIS sucks. fitment is horrible, the quality of the CF sucks. It's mass produced so it's always ready to go. This shows it's lack of quality over quantity.

Fiber Images will only make your CF part once you order it. They are very high quality, but they are a pain in the a$$ to get a hold of.

I just got an update. My trunk was damaged in shipping. They sent me out another truck today via a different shipping company. Thank god. Too bad I won't have it in time for the southern 7thgen meet.

Yeah, I find it quite funny that every part that isn't on your car sucks, but everything you do own is god-like. civicvtec1ps said he saw future's trunk and the finish and look of it is good. But of course, you, having only seen it from a picture online (if at all), know more about a product than everyone else does.

I've seen this company's quality. It is less than desirable IMO. You have yours and I have mine. You take someone elses word when you haven't even seen it. I have seen the trunk on a 7thgen at NOPI. Not to mention the numerous threads with people complaining about fitment problems and poor quality.

Yes, when I buy a product for my car I only buy the top quality version of it. So wouldn't you think that would mean that all the rest would be inferior? I actually care about what goes on my car and it must be perfect or else I won't buy it.

You over-generalize a lot. I personally have a VIS hood and the fitment and weave is wonderful. I like it a lot better than I like your $600 kaminari hood with the ugly black line, but hey, thats just my opinion.
