HID, would you go back?
for those of you with true hids, would you ever drive a car without hids?
i personally won't buy another car without hid. if i am, it's getting a hid conversion within weeks after i purchase it

iu dunno, i have a feeling some of the other guys might
we are not the only ones with hids, afterall
it's so hilarious, my friend and i did a little experiment, where one of us would part the car by my house, and then we would rid ein the other person's car down the road, to see how it looks
my hid put no light on the ground, but it looks like something from a bmw (blue and purple)
his has all the light on the ground, but it looks like regular halogen
from over function i guess

I would never go back. Unfortunetly I don't have a choice right now though. I had to return my car to stock so I can trade it in. As soon as I pick up the WRX the HID kit is going in. Without HID's is like living in the dark.
Re: HID, would you go back?
Absolutely not. I can't see in a car that doesn't have them now. I have 2 cars, my 2002 Civic that I had converted to HIDs and a 2003 BMW M3 that has the best I've seen. They are well worth the money.

The guys with HIDS... I've talked to some people who are like "yeah, they don't work as well as stock lights but they look cool." That's freaking stupid. I hope that's not what you guys are talking about here.
Whoever said that either doesn't have HIDs or had a really bad conversion done...There is no parallel between halogens and HIDs...the beam is wider and longer, and is a constant stream of light, unlike halogens which have patches of various degrees of intensity...

I would never go back. I love having the road ahead lit up like daylight.
And with a proper conversion, there is no comparison between halogens and HIDs. I parked my GF's civic with 85watt eurolite xenon crystal bulbs (which I used to think were almost as bright as HID) pointing at one garage door, and I parked my car with Philips 4100k pointing at the other door, and the fake HIDs look like dim yellow POS next to the bright whiteness of true HID.

I've been somewhat afraid of looking into HID conversions. I've heard rumors that due to their increased operating temperature they can actually melt the headlight housing... Is this true, or nonsense?

aftermarket fake white bulbs and what not = 65-90 watts
true hid = 35 watts

lol! you sure they are true hids?
now it sounds like one of those power kits where it adds more wattage to make the lights brighter
that would explain why your hosuing is melting, and why they gave in 2 months

I bought 2 sets from this guy, discountcycle, at groupbuycenter.com. His prices are pretty good. The 9006 kit I got for my accord was real easy to install, the civic kit is a little more work. I have yet to install the kit for my civic, should have it in soon though, just trying to figure out where to put the ballasts. And yeah, I would not go back to Halogen, that's why I bought the second kit for the civic.
