What dose Fuel cut defencer do? Do it work on non-turbo car?

i believe it's a little vaccum switch that prevents fuel cut off when you are running excessive boost

the 91-99 mr2 turbo needed one because the ecm was designed to cut fuel if it goes over 13psi, and most people want to run 18-20psi, so they buy the switch
