Exhaust dilemma?
Ok i am about to buy an exhaust system, i am just tierd of having somewhat of a nice car and a punny exhaust tip. I am inbetween several things. First, i read somewhere that a cat-back wont do much for our cars(Ex)....b/c of the engine setup or something??? Also i am sort-a stuck in deciding if i want an axel-back or a cat back.....whats the main hp gains between the two.
Aight here are the systems i am looking at, i want something that is nice looking but not sounding like my lawnmower!
1. the invidia catback (475 shipped)
2. Apex WS catback
3. Greedy twin can catback
4. Hks axal back
5. N-1 style axel-back
Also i noticed that on ebay cat backs are selling for around 230ish......are these worth the money....they are mainly knock off N-1 styles. R they going to sound really ricey? Any help i will greatly appreciate. THANKS!

I got an N1 muffler from Megan Racing (off ebay for 75 shpped) and got custom 2.25 inch piping done for around 100 with welding and it sounds really nice... i listened to all the exhaust threads and i honestly like the way it sounds comparing to the full catbacks...
just a little bit of food for thought

I got the Tanabe Super Racing Medalion cat-back and love it!!! Nice purr to it but it is a little loud. I also like the Greedy Evo system but my buddy has it with Eibach springs and complains about the muffle sections scraping. I didn't like the style of the DC Sports, I also didn't want the large tip of the Apexi or HKS although the HKS was my second choice. The Tanabe SRM Was the best choice for me... I like the overall simple style, Tone is great without the lawnmower back firing, performance is mainely for high-end and highly tuned cars so please consider that. Hope this helps!!!
skunk 2 or tanabe if youre serious about modding. good investment. cant wait to get my skunk 2. another cheap exhaust system is magnaflow. ive got one now. its pretty sweet, but i want something deeper so skunk 2 is the way to go.

I just got my HKS Hiper... I like it a lot, not too loud... And I just made a post about how it adds mpg. You would hear your engine or intake over the exhaust, but I hear it sounds really nice from outside the car.
dru-what kind of rear lip is that?

If you don't want a really loud exhaust, axle-back is the way to go. Gains won't matter much anyway. TCS catback is supposed to be low toned. Here's a pick of the thermal.

I just got my HKS axle-back, and IMO its absolutely perfect... Maybe its even too loud (from inside the car). It has a nice low echoing tone...
If I really had the money, I would go for Greddy though. Can't go wrong with it. Looks nice, sounds perfect and not too loud either.

So what i am gathering is that the deal that tornactive is offerning right now for a inivida catback for 475 shipped is a good deal? I cant even find an axel back for anything under like 400 shipped. At that point i might as well go catback right?
