Header install question?

I have a custom cat back on my 02 ex coupe with a high flow cat converter that is all welded. I know that when you by headers they come in two pieces, the first piece is the header that connects from the engine, and the second piece is the pipe that connects from the header to the cat. My question is if I buy a header, how can I connect the pipe that goes to the cat if all of my exhaust is welded? I can connect the header from the engine to the first downpipe, but I need to know how I can connect the second pipe that goes to the cat? can it be welded to the cat?

JSWhaler is an unknown quantity at this point
if you won a 2k1 civic, the header is only 1 piece. There is no down pipe cause it is welded to the cat. = a strait connection with the cat from the header. A header for a 2k1 civic will bolt right on.
