Just thought 01-03 sedan owners would like to know that the color matched trunk trim from the new 04 will fit the older style civics. I already ordered mine from the dealer here in Urbana and I'll post pics once it arrives in a few weeks. Only thing is it's expensive--$85. But body shops will want over $100 just to paint the chrome one after all the prep work. It's also an easy install. One screw and a few clips from the inside of the trunk lid hold it together.

Geez, Civics change only minor features every year! I would like to do that, but $85 is a lot! I'd rather just leave it chrome and spend the $85 on something more useful, ya know? And yeah, shops do charge an arm and a leg just to paint little crap like that. My cousin has an air compressor, so I would rather just buy a paint gun and do it all myself...

Coupe Trunk Trim #14 = $22.36 + S/H + Tax (CA)
Sedan Trunk Trim #17 = $47.53 + S/H + Tax (CA) Chrome / = $18.02 + S/H + Tax (CA) NON Chrome
hopefully that's help .......... it looks the same

this information is for the 01-03 sedan trunk molding...we are talking about the sedan molding for the 04s which are color-matched
when you look at the page there is only one part number for the molding and it says 'no color' (that would be the standard color, which in the 01-03 case would be chrome)...the 04s will have multiple part numbers to match the paint codes (just like the 01-04 coupe)

We're talking about getting the 04 trim (color matched) to put on our 01-03 vics instead of the chrome that's on there already.

I just picked it up from the dealer today for $60. It's a near perfect fit on the older cars. From the bottom it doesn't exactly line up with the trunk, but you have to look under where the license plates are to see it. From the rear, it looks just like chrome except it's painted. Very easy to put on, and it looks so much cleaner.
