got xenon body kit today
today i picked up my xenon body kit from the local shop i ordered it from. after bargaining and showing the shop a raceipt from an auto accessorie competetor, they got the kit down to 750 shipped, so with taxes it came out to be $795. i think 750 is a really good price compared to what i been seeing online and web sites, i'm not too much of a fan from ordering online anyway, i got jipped once and i hate the idea of paying for everythign 1rst then waiting for the item. anyway, when i came to pick it up, that stuff was soooooo soft, i picked up the front bumper and it sagged and was really soft like bubble gum almost or even rubber when its melted. i took the pieces to a body shop i was gonna get it painted at, the owner of the place took them inside the garage and we went and he printe dout my receipt. b4 i left, i went to see how they look and i touched the front bumper and it becamse stiff all of the sudden. i guess this doesnt really have a point besides that i had no idea that poly urethane becomes really soft when its hot and really hard when it cold. i heard that shop does really good paint work and they are charging me 650 for the paint and install, u guys think its a fair deal?
i sitll think 650 to paint is kinda expensive. when i got a 1rst look at the body kit in the box, there is barely anything to paint. a little *** front bumper, sides and a real bumper add on. i dnno where body shops come up with these prices. but the paint work is very importent to me thats y i went there.
maaco doesn't paint bad.. they just don't prep anything.. So.. if you ain't got the cash.. sand everything up real good with liquid sand or bumper cleaner then take it over there.. lol
but you got a good deal I paid 250 for the xenon sides.. I painted em myself though at school.. I miss the good ol high school body shop..

With the money you saved you could take some grammar lessons.
I would think that the body kit wouldn't be too hard to install yourself. It would save you more money, which you can use to get the best paint job you can afford. I've laughed at too many peeling body kits to want a maaco style paint job.

I've laughed at too many peeling body kits to want a maaco style paint job. u can put it on urself, just put the rear bumper on in a cool dry place because i put mine on and it was super hot outside and the rear bumper did not stick. maybe it was because i washed it after i put it on with the 3m tape but still. easy to install, i did my rear and sides myself, after dropping my car on the floor 3 times, haha. never use emergency jacks, plz.
The cost comes down to:
1- preping the bodykit
2- making sure the bodykit fits properly before painting
3- paint and supplies
4- time put into painting and letting dry
5- labor for body mechanic

and back to the thread. i was thinking of installing it myself but i dont have a garage, i live in a twin where we just have a drive way. since i never seen how a kit is put on, i'm pretty sure its common sense, but i dont wanna mess anythign up because i wanna get it done asap by professional hands.
i took my kit to a place in town, and the guy quoted my 150 bucks, cause he thought the paint was going to be like 30 bucks... but after he looked up the color code... he saw it was like a 4 layer color... and also, he didnt know he was going to have to work the fiberglass, and he did. well anyway, the paint ran the guy 165 bucks, so he pretty much paid me 15 bucks to let him paint my kit. He he, i told him ild give him 200 bucks for it. I go pick it up this afternoon, IM SO STOKED!!!
