Can anyone clear up what headlight bulb brand to go for? So many choices out there!

Hey guys,

After unending searching on what kind of headlight bulb to upgrade to, Im a bit lost as I went on Ebay to check out all the choices out there. There is alot of Xenon bulbs out there but with different box labels meaning different companies. Maybe PIAA?

I want to keep my stock headlights as I love the clear headlight look but I would like to upgrade the headlight bulb to a bright blue tint bulb......and of course going for the HID look.

I do not want these bulbs to go out on me so Im going to stay away from the Eurolites as I read on past forums that people had to change them out.

I also dont want to have the bulbs produce more output then the stock.....Im hoping that whatever bulb I do go for would outlast any factory headlight bulb. But that might be too much to ask. Anyways I hope I clarified what Im looking for so I would appreciate some help here. Thanks and sorry if this question is repetitive often.

people seem to like mtec, but i've never had a problem with 90w bulbs. make sure to put bulb grease on the plug before you put it in. a grounding kit and aftermarket wire harness would help also.

Whatever you do, DON'T get high wattage bulbs! Stick to the stock 55w/60w types. I have sylvania cool blues, which give off a whiter light than stock. Keep in mind that any bulb with tint will be dimmer than stock, due to some light being filtered out. Also, your eyes see better at night with the stock yellowish light.

You probably want to steer clear of PIAAs, since they tend not to last very long (a few months at most). Bulbs made by known manufacturers like Philips or Sylvania will have a longer life. If you want the blue look, check into foreign bulbs like polarg or raybrig. I have raybrig dome lights and they've lasted almost a year after alot of use. Good luck!!

Ive been using a brand called SHoWOFF and they have been working great for about 2 years, never had a problem. They ran me about 50 a set. They give off a great blue color

Just what gearbox said. Technically, if you want the brightest bulbs you would buy Philips Vision Plus. Those are the brightest non-HID bulbs out on the market. However, they are still the stock "yellow" lights.

If you insist on getting something more HID'ey, Sylvania Silverstars I think are *slightly* brighter than stock, and less yellow. Definitely not HID though.
