Question AEM V2 intake.......

I have an 02 Civic Lx coupe and I was wondering if anyone out there has put the new V2 on their civic? If so was it a noticeable gain? Any information would be great........I only wanted to know so i could decide between the AEM V1 or the new V2.....

Something else to look at is the fact that the V2 does not work with a bypass valve. So unless you want to swap your intake when it rains or do some engine damage, you cant drive your car.

Just bcs V2 has bigger and fancier AD in the magazines dosent mean its the best intake. Word goes around, that intake sucks ***. Get original AEM or better yet, get Injen.

Rain isn't as big of a factor is not going bounding through puddles at excessive rates of speed. If you are careful not to go splashing through puddles then you will be fine in the rain.

They all work the same. I think pipe is designed better with Injen then with AEM.

well to tell you the truth there was a old forum on the old format of the 7thgencivic.com, that shows taht teh v2 AEM CAI does not really gain you anything you save you the money and by the AEM CAI. I have it in my car, and to tell you the truth, if you put an CAI in your car you won't notice anything. For me at least. AND YES BUY THE BY PASS VAVLE IT SAVED MY *** BIG TIME!!!

okay.

obviously no one posted yet knows what the AEM V2 for the 01 Civic is like...

first, its not a cold air intake. its a fancy short ram.

so hydrolock isn't as much of an issue.

second its a lot more expensive... but AEM does claim funny gains.

(ie: +5 hp for EX on the V2, but their "V1" says +8.9 hp for the EX. while the V2 DX/LX has a whooping +12 hp, but the "V1" claims like +7. yes, wacky numbers)

I wouldn't get the V2... until more review of it comes in from other members.

I say Injen, but I can't force this enough of you are getting and CAI BY THE BY PASS VALVE, I had a flood, and ohhhh was my air filter way under water. Trashed my interior as well, thats what you get for having your car lowered and having a CAI!

Civic02playa -- I have an 02 coupe with a v2 in it and I have noticed enough gain to make it worth the money. Yeah its not actually a CAI it is a SRI. So you dont have to worry about hydrolock cause unless you plan on driving in 4 feet of water. I have had it in for about 3 mounths and have driven in the worst of rain, I live in mass and I have had no problems. Bottom line go with what you think looks good and what you really want.
