Programming Keyless FOB

I've discovered the 2014 and up Civic models require stealership programming for key fobs. The sad part is they want an arm and a leg for a 5 minute programming job which is utterly ridiculous. Anyone know if there are any other alternatives to programming than a dealer?

Thank you

Re: Programming Keyless FOB

It has been that way since 06.

Some mechanics have HDS. A real well equipped key shop may have it.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

That's nothing new at all. As CraigW said, it's been this way for more than a decade on Hondas, and it's been this way far longer than a decade for many other brands of cars.

The sad part is they want an arm and a leg for a 5 minute programming job which is utterly ridiculous.
Purchase any real scanner unit (not a Chinese clone knock-off) that is capable of doing the job you want to do, then do some real business math and tell us just how much you think these programming procedures should be valued at to someone who won't purchase the equipment needed to do the job.

BTW if you, as a non-dealership entity, wish to purchase Hondas HDS scanner program to do lock/key/immobilizer work, they won't sell it to you without an LSID (locksmith identification).
