metallic rattling noise at cruising speeds and at some acceleration points
so i purchased a 2015 honda civic lx from a nissan dealer back in july, i loved the car and how it drove. it’s my first car. it had 101k miles on the dash.
since november it’s been a metallic rattling noise when i cruise between 25-55 mph. the noise is so faint you can’t hear it when music is playing but it’s noticeable when the music is off. i know the noise isn’t normal because it didn’t do it at all when i purchased the car. i’m just very glad that i decided to buy the extended warranty.
last month i finally had the extra time to take it to a honda dealer for a diagnosis so i could take the diagnosis to nissan to start a warranty claim. on the test drive while the tech did hear the noise but at the corner of my eye i could see that he was very puzzled. (i don’t think he was a master tech) long story short while honda did notice it’s a noise but they couldn’t pin point where it’s coming from. they said and i quote, “don’t worry about it since the car drives fine, come back if the noise gets louder or if it starts to affect your driving.”
while the car drives fine for the most part it’s times where the cvt would jerk which it just started to do around february. however, i’m not sure if it’s related to the noise. i’ll attach a video as the rattle is towards the end.
i don’t know what to do… trading it in isn’t an option as i put a lot of money into it like getting tints and getting a nice set of michelins and other maintenance. i don’t want to make a huge financial mistake as the car is financed. i plan on keeping this car for many years to come if i can.
