2014 Coupe Gas Cap Warning

2014 LX? Coupe. 90k kms.
Coworker's car, gas cap warning came on the screen, cap was tight.
Checked cap gasket and filler neck seem fine.
Has p0455 stored, but the check engine light isn't on.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you

Re: 2014 Coupe Gas Cap Warning

Give it a couple more days of driving.
Either the cap warning will go away if all is well and passes the next self tests, or the CEL will come on if there's still a problem and it fails the self tests again.

Cool thanks ezone

I did clear it and restarted the car, the dash warning was gone but the code came back (soft code no CEL) see what happens after a couple days

Re: 2014 Coupe Gas Cap Warning

Got mice? P0455 is a gross (large) evap leak, so either the tank can't hold vacuum at all or vacuum isn't being applied to the tank.

Pending code means it already failed the first of at least two self tests, and still needs to fail one more time before turning the CEL on.

You should know more in a day or two.

Re: 2014 Coupe Gas Cap Warning

Thanks for the heads up
Rodent wiring damage isn't super common up here, usually it's chewed up filters and nest/food storage in air boxes. It is within the realm of possibility though. Damn car has plastic skid plates everywhere so it's not a quick check.

Do you think it would be worth throwing a gas cap at it if the cel comes on?
