2007 Honda Civic AC issue

So my Ac has been malfunctioning. Seems when its very hot the AC is slow to turn on or does not. The dealership tells me it needs a new clutch , coil and relay and wants 615 for parts and 520 for labour. I'm in Canada. Does this seem reasonable?

Do you think I could beat that price? I'm not particular savvy when it comes to mechanics.

Any suggestions?

There's at least a couple threads with DIY hints and pics if you want to look around.
