99 Civic EX distributor wiring harness issue

99 Civic EX distributor wiring harness issue
I am replacing the distributor and can't get the wiring harness off of the old cap. Yes, I have wiggled the crap out of them, put the distributor back on and tried the same. Just can't break it loose, and yes I have pried at it but afraid I will snap off the plastic. Any ideas on how to break it loose or point me to a video?

Wire connector has to be removed from the metal mounting tab before you can pull the 2 halves apart. The metal tab is like a lock.
