Oil problems please help

Hi I have a 1992 civic d15b7 today I changed the oil with 5w-30 it was fine I took it for a ride and the oil light came on so I pulled over and checked the oil the level was right where it should be so I turned the car around and took it right home it drive normal no smoke anywhere if I hit a bump the light went out if I floored it the light went out for like 5 min then came right back on I'm not sure if 5w-30 is the right weight for the car or should I drain the oil and go with something different Thank you

5w30 is sufficient.

It could be as simple as a bad oil sending unit, or it could be major.
A sending unit is cheap, and if it takes care of the light, great.
If I were to guess, I would guess this first.

If the idiot light still comes on after that, you may need to have an oil pressure test done. This is where a real mechanical gauge is screwed in and the actual oil pressure is tested while the engine is running. If the pressure is too low and causing the light to come on, then you will have a lot of work ahead of you.

Could have junk built up clogging the oil sump pickup tube. Lots of possibilities.

I think I figured it out I noticed when I was changing the oil filter there was a disconnected sencer that was hanging around the filter it was a round sencer that looked like it screws into something I bought the car 3 weeks ago from a guy who said it had a newer engine in it I just google searched the oil sending unit but it came up as oil pressure switch and the pic look like the sencer I saw just hanging tomarrow I'm going to go out there and see if I can connect it or replace it thank you

Ya, if the wire wasn't hooked up and it was dangling, swinging, then any time it hits metal (ground) the idiot light will come on.

It was swinging and i must have looked around for 20min to see where it went but at the time I had no idea what it was or where it went so I just wrapped it around the metal mount to keep it from getting ripped out til I found out were it hooked up to but that metal mount must be causing it to ground out and throw the light thank you guy for your help.
