I'm selling this car because I bought a new 2010 Civic w/ automatic transmission. I had to do this because I'm looking at a couple of years of surgeries which will leave me unable to drive a standard transmission. I really didn't want to have to do this because the car would have lasted me another 10 years at least. I've owned this car since new and like a typical Honda, it's been extremely reliable.
Last year, with the thought of keeping the car another 10 years, I spent a bunch of money on preemptive maintenance while getting the timing belt changed. Even though I was having no problems, I had the mechanic replace the water pump, tensioner, belts, etc. Recently had the radiator replaced. Oil has been changed every 3000 to 4000 miles since new.
For it's age it has low mileage at only 112,xxx miles. NADA considers this low mileage for the car and actually adds value to it when computing purchase price.
As to how much to ask for the car, I went to the NADA site and looked it up:
http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/1999/...dard-Equipment
They list $5275 for clean retail but that's probably what a car lot would charge. The clean trade in value is $3400. In trying for a quick sale I am asking $3800.

Re: 99 Civic LX, 5 spd manual, HOUSTON, TX
Is there anyway you could take payments? My civic just broke down on Friday and the tensioner exploded because the dumbass mechanic only changed the belt. Calling them tomorrow, to see if they will pay for new engine because all the valves were bent. Might take them to small claims court. To be honest, i have no money right now. Thought i would get a headstart on the search in case they end up not paying for the repairs. If they don't i will part out my car and can give you that as a down payment. Not sure how much i would get. I have no way of getting around right now. Stranded. Here is my "story" about my car. Im located in Houston(well NW Houston).
