FS: 2002 Civic Ex Turbo

See my car at... www.cardomain.com/id/2002silverex

Unfortunately....I have decided to sell my 7thgen civic. This time is for real.. Last time I said I was selling it, for the right price I would have, but it was nothing urgent just curiosity. Anyways, if you don't already know, i've got a 2002 Honda Civic Ex Sedan. The car is silver with many upgrades. The engine is the 1.7 sohc Vtec, now upgraded with the TSI Extreme Turbo Kit in which I am running 7-9 psi, I choose with my Greddy ProfecB Spec II. The car has approximately 18,200 miles on it. The car has never seen salt, snow, and barely ever seen rain, i've got a truck that I drive in the winter, and the only time this car is driven in the rain is when I get caught in it. I have stored the car in a local storage warehouse every winter from 1st day of October until the 1st day of April, that's why the miles are so low. I bought the car brand new in October of 2002 down in Manchester NH. The car is completely paid off. I purchased my turbo kit from a guy on the forums, his name is dober, you probably know him. I purchased the kit brand new sometime in June of this year. The kit was installed by the end of July, and the car has been driven about 1,200 miles sense the turbo has been installed. I started out with a few complications with the turbo, but you can ask anyone on this forum and I can almost gaurantee they will tell you it is perfectly normal to have difficulty with a turbo setup. The problem I had fortuantely was just a bad manifold, which TSI has replaced, and the car is running good. I am still running the stock clutch simply because it is holding up fine, not slipping at all, and I didn't have need of a new one for the driving I do. There is around $37,000.00 invested into this car including the price of the car itself. The car is absolutely flawless inside and out. There isn't one spot on the inside that I know of, and there is one scratch on the front bumper but it's on the underside of the body kit, so unless the car is on a lift, you cannot even see the scratch.. The rear bumper was just replaced this past summer, because the first one I had they dropped when they were painting it, but at the time I was to anxious to wait for a new bumper, so they put it on anyways. Now the bumper has been replaced, and it is once again flawless. To the best of my knowledge there is absolutely nothing wrong with this car, and it runs just like new....but a lot faster.

I have never taken the car to the track, so I don't know what it runs for numbers... But others with my same exact setup running 6psi are running somewhere is the high 14's I believe. But with my boost controller, I have run anywheres from 6psi to about 8.5 psi. You could run more if you wanted, but I never dared to. 6psi is pleanty for our civics, unless you plan on racing, which I never really had the chance to do.

The only thing is, right now the car is in storage, which I already paid the guy $400.00 for this winters storage, so if I sold the car, it would be up the buyer whether or not they wanted to keep it in storage until spring, and just give me a deposit now, or they can pick the car up now, i'm pretty sure it wouldnt be a problem to get it out of storage, but I would have to double-check before hand. Also, right now the car is illegal to drive in Vermont becuase the kit replaced the CAT with just a straight pipe. In some states they don't require a CAT, but where I live they do. The car is inspected until probably May, but I know I could get it inspected even without the CAT. If the car doesn't sell this winter, I am going to put my stock CAT back on, so that the buyer doesn't have to worry about it. But there is defintly better performance the way the car is...so its up to you! I am in no hurry to sell this car, I will drive it all next summer if it doesn't sell. The car is extremely enjoyable to drive, and it gets many looks. You wouldn't expect a 4-door civic, to look so good, and you surely wouldnt expect to hear the Blow off Valve from a 4-door civic, so it's fun just to drive around town and show it off. I have no complaints with the car, but I get bored with cars fast, and at this point I have done nearly everything I can do to it, and now that theres not much more to do, I would like to sell it and start a new project. But i'm not going to give the car away either just to get rid of it.

As far as a price... to tell you the truth, I have no idea what to ask for the car, so I think I'm going to start out with just having you guys make an offer, and I see what happens. Kelly Blue book's Private Party Value for my car is $13,405.00 Obviously that value is if my car where bone stock, which it is very far from. I know you never get back what you put into the car, but I also know people get money for cars in this good of shape, with this much money invested. I know it's hard to sell highly-modded car becuase you can buy a brand new one for the same price, but I guess it's a personal choice of what you like, and what you are looking for. So, you can PM me, or just post on this thread its up to you. Make an offer, please don't low ball, just use your judgement as to what you think a respectable price would be!

You can see my car at www.cardomain.com/id/2002silverex for a complete list of mods and some pics of the car. Any further questions I would be more than happy to answer!

Thanks a lot!

you would be better off parting the car. You get more $$$ that way, plus a unmoded car is easier to sell.

No, I would really like to just sell the car whole. I want a new car, therefor I don't want little pieces of money every once in a while and a car all broken up. But thank you for the advice, you are right, you do get much more money that way!

If its possible that would be a great option.

The turbo kit can bring in some good cash. Your probably one of the few that has a fully functional reliable turbo .I'm assuming its functional and relaible.

Wheels lights carbon fiber hood, spoiler....etc can easily be sold.

IMO selling a modded car is harder to sell and no one wants to pay for the mods.

Yes I know you guys are very right about parting out, to tell you the truth, with college, and work after school everyday, I honestly don't have time to really fool with all that. I know that sounds bad, and it;s bad business, but I really would rather wait and have that person come along that is looking for a car like mine. It could be a long wait, but I know the person who gets this car will be happy, getting the whole package, and not having to mod, just drive!

I am excepting offers. If you are interested in this car at all, make an offer. Im not going to get mad if it is to low, i will just simply not accept. Make an offer, it won't hurt! I just want to get an idea of what this car might sell for.

Thanks

The reason I don't have a price on this car yet, is becuase I have no idea where to start. I gave you the numbers that I do know... Kelly blue book value, and what I have into the car. I would appreciate it if someone who has sold something like this before tell me where I stand with this thing. I dont want to post a price to high, and have everyone laugh at me, but then again, I dont want someone to steal it...
Thanks for the help!

Hey guy's, i'm thinking about trying the ebay route in a couple of weeks, because nobody seems to have much interest in the thing. I have a friend that knows a lot about ebay, and said he would put my car on for me. I know I can set a reserve. If you were me, what would you set the reserve at for this car?

Thanks again!

i'll jump on the band wagon.....part it. I have a feeling you are gonna want 18-19+ and honestly you'll never get it. I consider myself lucky I didn't spend too much $$ on my car because now I realize it doesnt raise the resell value enough, if at all.

Take it and run.

Honestly can you please specify how you manage to spend $37g on this civic. I think this will help justify somebody in giving you a high offer instead of lowballing.

If I decide to ebay this car, (in a few weeks) what do you think I should set the reserve and buy it now price for?

Thanks

Also, someone is interested in my turbo kit, If i took the turbo kit off, would the car be worth more or less to sell outright, I ask this becuase I know some people would pay more for a car that has no engine modifications

Allright guys, I've talked to quite a few people on and off the forums, and have developed what I would consider a "fair" price. I know I will never get nearly what I put into it so...

-kbb value of my car in stock form = $13,255
I was then told to subtract $2,000 from kbb value, which would put my car at $11,255.
-Then I was told to add 1/2 of the money I have into mods.
-Mods= roughly 15,500 divided by two = 7,750

So my 11,255+7750= $19,005.00

So from all of the advice you guys have given me, it seems as though 19,000 would be a good price to ask for my car...

Becuase I don't want to have to ebay this car, I am willing to sell for......$18,000 obo

Let me know what you guys think, I really don't want to fool around with ebay...
