You really dont need to do any modifications to the fuel system unless you are planning to run 7psi+. The stock comuter will up the duty on the injectors accordingly to the amount of air coming in to the motor... BTW... the fuel cell if for the liquid to air intercooler...

Sorry to hijack this thread, but.....

How can you possibly think that the ecu is going to compensate for fuel? That's ridiculous. First off, the ecu will put the car into safe mode if the map sees positive vacuum and will run like crap. Secondly, if you try running 6 psi with no fuel, you'll detonate so badly, it's as though you're hitting a fuel cut and the engine won't rev any higher. I know this from experience. Once I hit 3-4 psi with my fuel pump accidentally unplugged, I couldn't get above that and the car went into safe mode and ran terribly.

Seriously, ask anyone who has a boosted d17 and they'll tell you the same thing.

Well I can tell you it will work. I've had a boosted D17 WAY before any SF kit came around. If you know enough about the D17 OBD2's system you can actually fool it... If you run 2psi for a two weeks, then move up to 4psi for another three weeks your computer will start to forget it's original maps and will assume that the mass amount of air is normal... Anything over psi though i'd personally go with a set of K20 injectors...

"Once I hit 3-4 psi with my fuel pump accidentally unplugged"

I have no idea how that happened to you? I ran 11psi for a year on the stock fuel pump with no problems whatsoever...

Well, I'm not going to turn this thread into a huge debate, but in your first post you said that you can bolt it on and run 5-6 psi. Now you're saying that you have to start at 2 psi for 2 wks, then 4 psi for 2 wks. Sorry, but I call bs. Our computers do not work this way and I very seriously doubt that you ran an 11 psi on a stock fuel pump, either.

Anyways, whoever reads this thread can make their own decision, I won't hijack anymore.

I love it when people doubt. I watched this guy run a 13.2 with a stock fuel pump, LOL.....his car was very reliable for a daily driver, and hell a fast. This kit is a wicked deal for anyone that buys it, and hi BOV will scare the **** out of you

I just got my TSI kit in a few days ago, and my map sensor is messed up right now, so we tried running the turbo without it, and Andyman is right, it wont work. As soon as the ECU sees boost, it goes into a safe mode causing a few different things. Most new cars have a special thing in the ECU that when something feels different, it goes into a safe mode which will make it run richer (burn more gas) the idle will be messed up, and you wont have nearly the power you should. On top of that, as soon as it sees positive vacuum (boost) which in my kit was around 3,000 rpms, it will dog down, feels like a rev limiter, but at 3,000 rpms. We have been fooling around with my car waiting for the new map sensor to come in, and trying to run it without it, but i think its pretty much impossible, just think about the mechanics of it.....our ECU does not have boost maps, and there is no way you can run 2 psi for a week, change it, up a little more the next week, thats not going to put boost maps in your ECU, if anything, your going to have your ECU so confused, your going to need a new one!

Ok, now that the thing has been sold, I don't mind hijacking.

First off, who cares what the setup looks like? Do you really think that looks are going to win a race? If you're spending 2k on a turbo kit for looks, you don't really care about racing anyways, obviously. I can see the size of that cooler and I guarantee it has less volume than the kit I had. Guess what? The more displacement in the cooler, the more efficient it will be which will result in lower intake temps and MORE POWER. So what if it isn't the neatest, prettiest setup out there?

Secondly, I still don't understand how you think the ecu will perform as it's own standalone. It doesn't add up. If there is something special that you did to reprogram the ecu, I'd love to hear it, as long as it's reallistic.

i'm so sad you sold your kit to the other guy after harassing a bunch of people for some cash!
That's not true. The d17 has potential in it if you know what you're doing.

Harrassing a bunch of people for some cash? Not sure what you mean. There's no way I can make everyone happy. If you're referring to yourself, if you hadn't low balled and played games, you probably would have gotten it. In no way am I obligated to sell anything to anyone. I took the best deal I was offered. Like I said, if you hadn't low balled and messed around, you probably would have ended up with it. I wasn't surprised though, I've talked to a few other people who sold turbo kits and they told me you tried it with them as well. So just a tip, if you're serious about something, don't play around or a good deal will pass you by every time.
