Ah okay. For something like that you can use a regular multimeter or a shunt. Just set your meter to read amps and put the leads in line with the circuit.

Amp clamps are handy since you don't need to unhook anything to read current.

They make ones that are but most amp clamps are for larger current circuits. I have used amp clamps to measure mA but they were expensive meters. For super precise stuff I always used a shunt.

That may actually be sensitive enough to work. It just might be hard to get the wire you want to test far enough away from the other wires in the harness so you don't get any interference
