Thank God.

I got out of class and was on my way to the local court in my neighborhood. When I arrived, I noticed that my rear left tire was pretty flat. So, after paying the Sheriff the inspection fee for my front tint I was caught for, I headed to a local gas station.

Upon arrival, I gathered some change and then pumped air into my tires. I went straight to the rear left tire and the gauge on the pump didn't move at all! No pressure at all! So I got it back to about 35-36psi and then proceeded with the rest of my tires. The rest were all fine. Then, i came back to the rear left tire to double check on it and when I pumped it again, within the 30-60seconds or so, the tire had lost about 5psi!!!

Well, on my way back home, I heard a loud metal clinking noise.. not sure what it was, but I pulled over and thought that maybe I had run over something or that someone had threw something. Nothing. When I arrived home, I checked out my rear left tire and it was completely flat. Then I told myself, "oh crap.. I think that was my tire that blew up." Thank God that I was only running local errands and that I wasn't on the freeway.

Well, I might get flamed, but I have no money to get my suspension fixed up. I'm currently dropped on Tein S.Tech on stock struts! haha. And I noticed some camber issues a few weeks back and then noticed horrible shaking while driving anywhere from 20MPH - 45 MPH. I knew it.

I ordered the SPC camber kit earlier today at TrueHonda before finding out about my tire blowing up on me. When I get my check, I'm going to get new set of tires and then get that alignment done. Oh, and I'm going to get bigger tires. They were 205/40 and was wondering what size would you guys recommend me? I don't want low-pro tires anymore!

Here are some pics.

(torn all the way around!!!)

Cliffnotes:

*Jonathan had a busy day
*Jonathan's tire leaked air
*Jonathan's tire blew up
*Jonathan learned a lesson the hard way and deciding to spend money on suspension! haha
*What size should I get on my rims? (No more low-pros!)

Re: Thank God.

45s will raise your car up a lot. it won't even look like its lowered that much...
i dont think it's a camber issue-especially since i saw your car and the tires werent sticking out that much at all. but an alignment should tell you whats really wrong.

Oh yeah, I remember you telling me that.
But, I need to get the camber kit, right? Well, It is already on order so all I need now is some new tires and that alignment...

Re: Thank God.

its not always camber that eats up tires, in fact, toe tears up tires faster, as does lack of rotation, but alignment asap

Re: Thank God.

I actually drove on the freeway a month and 1/2 ago with a flat on going about 105km/h. I didnt notice it until I got to work and looked around. Good thing, I didnt damage the tire too badly and no damage to the rim. Turns out I had a micro puncture.

Re: Thank God.

you didnt really need a camber kit for s techs on stock shocks. but if you get coilovers down the road, its always handy to have at least the rear camber arms available.

and with 45 tires you will probably need to get your fenders rolled once you get coilovers

Re: Thank God.

UPDATE:

So I noticed that the rear right tire was also messed up pretty badly.. only a matter of time until they blew on me. Well, didn't take the chance, so I threw in a deposit yesterday at a local rim/tire shop and I got new rubbers today.

Went with 215/40...
Brand: Strata Zeno

Well, here's the problem.. I've now a 3 finger gap in the front! (from 2 finger gap!) I'll get some pictures up when I can. the rear is about the same.. 2 finger gap. I'm dropped on tein s.techs only.

they're not gonna settle back - the new tire raised your car up - now its time to go with coilovers

rednwhite04 will become famous soon enough
Re: Thank God.

maybe your fingers got smaller. I don't really know how getting bigger tires would make finger gap bigger. Yes, it will raise your car's overall height a little but finger gap should actually get tighter.

Re: Thank God.

bigger tires will increase finger gap because it raises the car up. I've seen his car in person before the new tires and i had the exact same setup with 215/45s and he had a lot less gap than I did

Re: Thank God.

my fingers are still fat lol. hmm.. I do want Koni yellows with ground controls... that would be nice. Well, I start working this weekend, but I should be able to pay off a few things and then get some parts.. slowly, but I'll get to my goals.
