what lug nuts are these and how do i get them off?

i recently purchased a '02 honda civic ex and this is my first post. shortly after i brought the car home i thought about rotating the tires and got me looking how in the world i'm going to get the wheels off. the car came with 16" ICW Racing wheels with some sort of 'splined' 12 point lug nuts on them....and no special socket ANYWHERE in the car to take them off...so my question is: what type of lug nuts are these and where in the world can i find the special 'key' to remove them...any help would be greatly appreciated....

i've attached a picture of my problem...

those are tuner lugs. call the previous owner and ask for the tuner key. whenever you purchase aftermarket lug nuts or a set in general with a special pattern, it comes with a key that adapts onto the socket wrench.

if you cant get ahold of the previous owner, a wheel shop might be able to help you out.

if you cant get ahold of him, check in the glovebox, spare tire and center console. thats where they are usually stashed.

^^^^True, I keep mine, with a torque wrench, in the spare tire compartment in the trunk.

If you truly do not have one and can not get a hold of the previous owner. Try one of those Gator Grip sockets.

Re: what lug nuts are these and how do i get them off?

ok...i searched the car high and low before even posting...nothing in the glove box, center console, rear spare tire compartment, cubby holes, under the seats...nothing...so i was searching and searching on ebay for a 12 spline lug nut socket and finally found one made by "McGard". I called the place...Massey's Accessory Shop in Oklahoma...and he said that this is exactly what i need...very good service there..he asked me a lot of questions about the car make/model etc. to make sure the socket would work. $17.00 total for the special 'key' and i should have it in a couple days..i'll let you guys know if it works....i really appreciate all the help

heres the key....

Wheel/tire shops use something like this to remove lug nuts without the special keyed socket. The downside is that it destroys the lug nut.
