What sunderies were options in these cars?

The '01 my wife and I recently bought seems to be pretty base model. I'd like to know what sort of little upgraded niceties I should be looking for in junk yards or E-bay to make things a little more comfortable. This vehicle has not been treated well and quite possibly may have had some stock components removed but, since it's my wife's vehicle, I'd like to get as many stock comfort items installed as I can. If the short list below has some items that weren't found stock, maybe you could let me know that too.

Did any of these vehicles come with:

A trunk lamp
Lighted sun visor mirrors
Sun visors that slide out
Sun visors that have a flap that covers the gap behind the rear view mirror
Foot well courtesy lamps
Heated seats or mirrors (if mirrors, is there a switch or are they always on?)
A center console arm rest
Under-hood lamp
Rear passenger cup holders, cigar lighter or ventilation
Rear passenger dome lamps

Anything else that may be a minor upgrade on the nicer Civics of the day?

Re: What sunderies were options in these cars?

I swear the trunk light and rear done light were standard. The OEM trunk light kinda sucked though. It was only a single 168 bulb. I retrofitted 2 CCFL light bars, mounted with double sided tape to illuminate the crap out of my trunk. It was pretty awesome.

Iswear the rear passenger cupholder, was, too. Look on the back end of the center console. If not, you can always purchase the one from the EX trim and it should be cut out to accept it.

Center console armrest was an option that screwed directly to the driver's seat. There's a diy somewhere to install one.

Under-hood light wasn't an option. I thought about making one, once. Had a parts list to make one with LED strips, but I never got around to it. It's easy in my head, but in practice nothing ever works out the way I imagine it.

I don't recall my 2002 ex having an illuminated vanity mirror, but I vaguely recall some models having one. I also vaguely recall mine having a slide out thingy to block more sunlight. Either that or the whole thing slid. That might've been my ex's 2008 EX though.

I do believe heated seats and mirrors were options

Footwell lights are easy DIY if you're electrically savvy. In fact, I'm procrastinating my current diy footwell lighting re-wire job because it's bloody hot outside. Yes. Bloody hot. And I'm 100% American. Lol

Forgive my "vaguely recall" statements. I parted ways with my beloved 2002 civic almost 2 years ago

If you want new OEM stuff, hondaautomotiveparts.com is the go-to for many. Also hondapartaunlimited.com is another go-to of mine

To get a better idea of which trim you have, does your wife's car have any of the following: ABS, a/c, color matched or black side view mirrors, color matched or black door handles, color matched (or chrome if sedan) or black hood/trunk trim, VTEC, tachometer?

That is great information! What you've put up here, even with a little leeway, is better than what I've gotten from a lot (Ok, mayby just...some) of online searching.

As far as finding the trim in this formerly wrecked vehicle, there is no ABS, there is AC, the side mirrors are color matched, the door handles are color matched, there's no VTEC and there is a tachometer.

The VIN is JHMES16571S003636.

Thanks for the help, it's a great starting point for what I should look to buy and what I should just fab up.

Re: What sunderies were options in these cars?

Per that VIN, your wife has an LX sedan. DX was the base, bare-bones model. EX is the trim above yours, and was equipped with all (well, most) the goodies.

You're also in luck. This site started at 7thgencivic.com, and was dedicated to 01-05 civics. There's a metric butt-ton more info about the 7thgens here than any other generation civic. I started on this forum in 2003, and I messed with my 2002 civic for 15 years. I know a little bit about the platform. Lol

Footwell lighting, I finally finished up literally 5 minutes ago. 2 segments from a roll of red LED strip lighting I had, a fusetap add-a-circuit, some acrylic (home made mount), some hardware and miscellaneous electrical terminals, and probably 4-6 feet of wire.

Re: What sunderies were options in these cars?

The rear dome light I think only came with a sunroof (EX). With a sunroof there is a dome light up by the map lights and one above the rear seats.

Fog lights were also an option.

I believe intermittent wipers were also an option. My EX has them but an Si I used to have did not.

I think heated seats/mirrors were only an option on non-US cars as I have never seen them.

I don't think lighted vanity was an option in the Civic, mine doesn't have them. Also the sunvisors do not slide or extend in any way, they only flip up/down and swing over to the side window.

Keyless entry was also an option, at least on the LX trim.
