Want to Sell, but Transmission Dead

Looking for suggestions on the best way to get the most money for my car. With 96,000 miles on the clock the auto transmission just died. Its likely just a clogged internal filter from what I have read, but I have no good way to fix it with out spending around 2K.

My options seem to be to get it fixed and sell it, sell it for scrap, or donate it.

Thanks for an ideas or magical fixes.

Re: Want to Sell, but Transmission Dead

what would you pay for it in its current condition?

right now its worth whatever a wrecker/scrap yard will come and haul it away for....so maybe a couple hundred bucks?

assuming the REST of the car is in decent condition, its worth spending the money on the tranny, even if you are going to sell it,

If it can't drive, it's not much better than a paperweight.
Scrap value is (guess) about 12 cents per pound, minus the pickup fees.

If the car was a reliable running and driving unit, it would probably be worth more than 2k, so it would make economic sense (to me) to spend the 2k to fix the trans so you can sell it for (assumed) 3-4-5k. IF you can really get it fixed correctly that cheap.
