ok this seems like a possible joke, but i have a story lol.
i used to drive a 1988 delta 88 with a 305 v8. good on gas? no, but it was a sweet 2 door with a nice bench seat (lets just say that car has a lot of memories). back on topic; the first time i filled the car up with gas, i got a full tank. the gas gauge went from full to 1/2 tank within about a day, and i didnt drive that far at all. come to find out, the was a small hole in the gas tank right above the 1/2 full point; so if i filled it up it would leak until that spot. i had to only get a 1/2 a tank for the duration of driving the boat.
i'm guess by you saying the first half you mean when its 1/2 full, and no, it shouldn't unless you have a similar problem possibly. the needle should go down the same, unless you're driving it hard or something.
