first civic

Hi all, I'm new here, name is guibbo. I love Hondas ever since I was little. Dad had a Honda City and couzins have civics back in p.i. I'm now 21 and bought an ej1 on my 21st from my uncle which i suppose he had well taken care of except broken ac.

I ran into trouble with my car's clutch last tuesday after i test drove it with it's new tires and had oil changed. I was feeling confident till i kinda speeded through first and 2nd gear up until 3rd, i got in gear but I heard a click/minor pop. Pulled over to the side of the street. Turned my car on and it turned on just fine, except it wont get into gear. Also when i turned it on and stepped on the clutch, there is still pressure but the pedal isnt full motion anymore just goes half way up and abit stiff. It would go into gear if it was off but it's not making as smooth. So i tried shifting to first while it's off then turn it on and run it. It would make a whirring noise or some weird noise. Engine is fine, also transmission is okay. Suspecting clutch disc broke, what do you guys think? i really need your help cuz its my dd and I can only afford so much. anyone from bellflower or cerritos Ca. area that recommends an honest mechanic? thank you guys. i'd appreciate any advice/tips.

Re: first civic

more than likely a spring in the clutch disc broke. You will have to pull the trans to confirm. Before you do that, check the fork that the slave cylinder pushes on and make sure that didn't break.

do you mean the clutch release fork right? and how hard do you think this repair/clutch install done? can I trust a home service/mobil mechanic to do this job? considering my car is lowered? thank you for you response. still learning more.
