Re: heater problems...

Just like I said in the other thread, but a more detailed response.

Flush your radiator, change the coolant, put on a new rad cap and change the thermostat. That should all cost less than $100 if you do the labour yourself, and its all pretty easy. I'm almost positive that will solve the problem, because thats all just regular maintenance thats been neglected by the previous owners. When they swapped the motor they probably used junk yard coolant. If that doesn't solve the problem then you likely need a new heater core, and that can get expensive.

Re: heater problems...

$110-130 new here: http://www.rockauto.com/

This guy has like 8 of them starting at $40 shipped for used: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-89...item2306577629

If you live close enough they have 'em for $18 here but, that's a lot of work for a $20 savings: http://www.picknpull.com/default.aspx

Re: heater problems...

Heater cores are one of those thing that fail over time though, so buying a used one could be sketchy. For an 89 I would probably buy the rock auto one.
