what does it take to put a gsr motor in a hatch

i have a 1990 honda civic si hatch im looking to put a gsr motor in and i live in california. does anyone know what id have to do to make it a legal swap and how hard is it to swap motors?

right now i have a d16y8 i mean which route should i go tune the crap out of it or gsr? im sure gsr is better but money wise its a lot at the moment

Your best bet is get the gsr and not touch the d16.

its actually a d16a6? its the stock one that comes in a 90 si hatch its rebuilt has i think at most if not even 10,000 miles on it right now its all stock but a aem cold air intake and yeah im selling it for my gsr

lol ya i have one in my mine i got a 89 si hach and i have a extra one that the block is fuked up... that one came with the car lol the guy spun 2 bearings .... and i just bought another engine.... but the top half is good i got a valve job on it done... i just want a extra one cuz iam going to be building up my d16 but need a extra one that runs so i can still use my car.....

my buddies and myself are going to see who can build up there stock engines up no swaps allowed ... there doing a lot of bolt on ****.... but i want to go internals then bolt on ****
its going to be fun...

thats pretty sick! honestly i dont even know how much im not sure how much they go for. also are you just looking for the motor or you want like tranny and harness? im selling pretty much everything motor tranny harness short shifter intake exhaust system. just depends what you want also its still in the car if you want to hear it run

cool well i have everything already all i realy need is the block but i dont think u want to just sell the block... cuz i have 2 intake and 2 exhaust manifold's and all that crap...
i bought the on that's in my car now for 100.... in up by San Francisco ... and i live in Bakersfield ... 4 hr drive there and a 5 hr drive back... so i am willing do drive far for my baby... : )

well id like to sell the motor and trans as one at least and my price is going to be a little high due to the face that it was rebuilt and there hardly any miles on it also i just got a brand new alternator put on it like a month ago

all depends on how far u are cuz i live in Bakersfield .... and i have gone as far as bay area.... it took 4 hrs ther 1 hr at the guys pad then 5 on the way back.... 10 hr trip... and i had to work ot the next day... lol

well where u at and when are u going to pull it...
