Re: complete rebuild help

well i just rebuilt mine its not cheap... but can be... if u do the work your self...
you'll have to pull the engine out and brake it down...
you can replace your valves... and your piston rings...
also all the bearings on your crank... and if u have over 140,000 miles or your close to it i would replace your fuel pump while your at it...

also u can get new freeze plugs put in....
that would do some good... also if your not using synthetic you should start.... i use synthetic + marvels mystery oil they sell it at target and Wallmart's.....
buy new belts "timing belt too" and hoses..... and i think thats most of it... if i missed anything just let me know... but the main thing replacing your valves, bearings and your timing belt....

Re: complete rebuild help

When rebuilding a motor you will need to take the motor out of course and put it on an engine stand, makes things so much easier. Take it apart and clean it really good. Best thing to use is brake cleaner, it gets rid of almost any kind of grease and it just evaporates. Now you will need a good set of tools to do this to and knowledge.

Whdn taking it apart remember where everything goes and make sure you have a torque wrench and know all the specs. When everything is out you will need to inspect everything especially pistons, valves and the cylinders. when doing a rebuild you will mostly need head studs, piston rings, timing belt, crank and rod bearings, and a new hole gaskit kit. You will need a honing tool also to hon the cylinders so the new piston rings will seat good. Make sure that on the rods that the rod bearings oil hole lines up with rod oil hole. Most the time they dont and need a little adjustment but a easy fix. You will just need to drill the rod bearing hole a little bigger. After checking everything and it all seems good with no dents chips or so forth then do the required things and put it back together.
