Setting ignition timing without timing marks
Setting ignition timing without timing marks
Hey,
I recently replaced my dizzy and I went to set the timing but there are no marks on the crankshaft pulley, I thoroughly searched the crankshaft pulley and found nothing. My question is whether there are any other ways to set ignition timing.

Re: Setting ignition timing without timing marks
When you do your timing the marks line up at cylinder 1 TDC. In which this case you do not have marks then just set it to TDC on cylinder 1. An easy way to check if the cylinder is at TDC is take the plug wire out and spark plug and find something small and long that ill reach down in the cylinder and turn the crank. When it starts to go down it passed TDC so rotate it again till it reaches the top. Then you should be good. Try it out and see if she runs good. If there is miss fires and stuff then you might have to try it again but you should be fine.
Edit: I forgot, you can also do your timing with a timing light.

Re: Setting ignition timing without timing marks
I set piston 1 to TDC and the car seems to be running fine now, I tried using a timing light but there were no visible markings. Anyway it all worked out, thanks for the help!
