Ignition Switch Problem?
Ignition Switch Problem?
Hey guys, another newbie here looking for help. I've got a '92 DX, 5spd, and I'm having a hard time getting it started. I get no dash lights (Check Engine, SRS, etc) when the key is turned to "II", but it cranks and starts instantly when I twist it to "III." As soon as the key is released, though, the engine shuts back off again.
It keeps running as long as I hold the key in the "start" position, and it also keep running if I play with it and get it to a certain position between "I" and "II." Am I definitely looking for a new ignition switch, or is there something else that could cause this?

Re: Ignition Switch Problem?
I am having the exact same problem with my 87 civic dx. The car runs fine if you hold the key between positions. Is it a worn switch problem or a worn key tumbler problem??? I hope someone can shed some light on this type of problem!
thanks
thanks
