Rep Power: 0 Engine smoking after sitting 18 months, 96 Honda Civic
I had to let my 1996 Honda Civic sit for 18 months. Now when I start it the engine starts to smoke and I知 not sure if I should drive it. Sadly I need to sell the car. Will it stop smoking? The car was in excellent shape when I left it. Also, can I let it run to charge the battery? Thanks for any help.

As long as it's not super thick and pouring out you're fine to run the engine, get someone to rev the engine up to see if it gets worse. For sure coming from the exhaust? Not random leaves or junk burning in the engine bay or stuck to the exhaust?
as long as its not smoking horribly you can run the engine to charge the battery, battery might not recover though

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Make sure fluids are full
Start and run engine.
DRIVE IT several miles!
