2000 Milano EX Coupe
2000 Milano EX Coupe
This will be my first post so I'll go ahead and introduce myself as well. I'm from south Louisiana and am a professional videographer as well as a novelist (scifi & paranormal mystery). I just picked up this Milano Red 2000 EX Coupe and it's in damned good condition for an 18 year old vehicle. Motor reads 209k on the clock, automatic transmission (I used to drive only stick, but its harder on my left knee), body is super straight with only like one tiny ding on the driver's door. Interior is also very clean with no rips in any of the seats. Power sunroof works great and A/C blows cold.
Issues
And the obligatory pics
Issues
- Driver side door's window comes loose from track
- Passenger side door won't open from the outside
- Heater does not work
- e-brake doesn't do jack, guessing cable snapped
And the obligatory pics

Re: 2000 Milano EX Coupe
Welcome! Clean car, makes me jealous, my girlfriend drives a red '99 sedan.
Driver side door's window comes loose from track - might just have to tighten a bolt for part of the track, had to do this on my buddys hatch.
Passenger side door won't open from the outside - but it works from the inside? or not at all? could be a rod or clip popped off. if it doesn't work at all the the latch is seized, i'll post a link to a thread i used to get the door to open on my girlfriends car
Heater does not work - coolant full? heater valve stuck closed? cable broken? have someone turn the **** back and forth inside the car while you watch the valve in the engine bay
e-brake doesn't do jack, guessing cable snapped - most likely, does the handle feel like its not connected to anything?

Thanks for the reply.
- the door opens fine from inside. Outer handle feels like it's connected nothing. Guessing a rod slipped off.
- Heater I will have to do some diagnostics on, but oil is not milky, so not blown head gasket.
- Driver side window comes completely off track when you roll it down. So it's not seated and held in at the bottom. I know on some cars it's glue. Do Civics use clamps down there?
- Handbrake feels like it's not connected at all. Guessing snapped cable as well.
- Also noticed dipstick comes out of block, guessing it's the little bushing/washer at the bottom that's worn out. I've had it happen on other cars.

Heater? Check coolant level, and check if the core has an air pocket trapped in it that needs burped out.
Head gasket failures in these engines RARELY ever give the "usual symptoms" most people think to look for unless it's ignored and becomes extreme.
Door handle---pull the door panel off and take a look.
Handbrake, does the brake pedal feel low? If so, check condition of the shoes.
If it's just the handbrake that's an issue, check cables.
Dipstick tube should have a metal clip that secured it to the side of the plastic timing cover. Did someone lose that clip when they did the last timing belt job?
