I got it scanned and the code they gave me was P0420. Any help?

Re: Nightmare

I had that code appear on my old car and I managed to clean my cat with some "snake oil" cat cleaning stuff I put in my gas tank.
Drove the car 40,000 kms before I wrote it off and the light never came back.

Might be worth trying a $20 bottle of goop before spending a few hundred on a cat.

Re: Nightmare

For clarification purposes of the thread, OP has a 98 lx (after searching OP's post history).

That said, the cat is integrated into the exhaust mani. OP, do a visual on the cat, make sure it's not cracked. Those seem to be a bit more prone to cracking, causing the 420 code to appear.

Re: Nightmare

😅 y''all are too much lol. I ended up checking it out, turns out the cat was all burnt. No flitter left to clean the air output. That would makes sense since I upgrade the headers. Anyways the part cost me about $150 max. got a buddy to welded it on for me. Hopefully this one doesn't burnt out anytime soon.
