High Pitch Squeal w/AC on and shfiting gears
I have a 2000 Civic DX and have been hearing a loud, high pitch squeal when the A/C is on and when the transmission shifts, most often from second to third. It tends to do this the first time shifting when the engine is cold. Rarely does it do it whenever I've been driving around with a warmed up engine for awhile, come to a stop, then speed up again.
It still blows cold air and acts completely normal minus that one loud squeal when going down the road after startup.
I don't hear any squeals when the A/C is not on.
Any ideas?

Repeat all that with the headlights on high beams.....If the noise is worse, tighten the alternator belt.
