Need to know some interior parts names.
Need to know some interior parts names.
Hi, I just joined Civicforums because I just bought a Honda Civic 1.6 VTI year 2000. The previous owner was a 17 year old. I'm also 17 years old but my love for Civics have been with me forever. I really want to make this car run and look good like the first day it came out of the dealership. The guy that owned the Civic before me broke and lost some interior plastics, so that he could put a shitty sound system in it. So now I want to repair/buy these plastic pieces but the problem is that I don't know the names for them. I'd appreciate if you guys could help me with the names or refer me to websites selling these pieces. I'll put some pics to help

Re: Need to know some interior parts names.
When you go looking for parts, you should hope that whomever you talk to can figure out what a part is by common verbal descriptions and common use terms. Soooo many people can't do this, they can only find stuff on the computer if someone calls it the exact same name it was programmed in with.
There could be 10 different commonly used names for any given part on a car.
What I'd call a part here in the US may not be the same thing you'd commonly call a part in Iceland.
What General Motors calls an item is usually not what Ford calls the same item, and neither will be what Honda calls the same item.
Hell, the service manual doesn't always call a part by the same name the parts catalog calls it, and that's at the dealer level.
Hood = Bonnet, Trunk = Boot? If I called a hood a "bonnet" over here, people would look at me like I have 2 heads.
#1, I'd call it a "switch blank". Might be called a switch hole lid, cap, or cover. My catalog calls it LID, SWITCH or LID, SWITCH HOLE. Salvage yard.
#2, If the original radio had the keyless entry unit piggybacked to the top of the original radio and it is now missing, that may be why the dome lights don't work. Test to see why it doesn't work before you buy bulbs.
#3, Shelf, of some sort. Hat shelf, package shelf, cargo cover, tray, lid.....
My catalog calls it SHELF, RR. CENTER
Salvage yard. Or make your own.
#4, Tail light bulb access cover. LID, (R OR L) TAILLIGHT.
#5, May be a cargo light? Catalog says LID, TRUNK ROOM LIGHT if I found the correct thing. Lens and bulb seem to be missing from yours.
#6, Kick panel is the common name here.....Took a while to find in my catalog because it's not called that..... LINING, L. COWL SIDE. Looks like yours might be easily reinstalled to the correct position...or there might be something stuck behind it pushing it out.
Salvage yard for all of these parts. Most would be hard to find new, I saw several labeled as "not available" in my US catalog while looking for names.
Honestly, pictures (or showing someone the actual spot in your actual car) and descriptions and someone knowledgeable with cars are the way to go.
