Engine swap Ex to Si

I bought a 99 civic Si about a week ago and when i bought it the engine was blown, but when i looked under the hood it was a d16y8 engine not a b16, could i still hook up a b16 to the tranny thats in there? Or should i just put another d16y8 motor back in and mod it?

Re: Engine swap Ex to Si

are you sure its an Si? Does it say "EM1" in the VIN? A B16 engine will not work with a D16 trans. You can get a decent B16 trans online.

It will not fit, the transmissions are different dimensions and sizes, you can get a cheap and decent engine at junkyard for 200$ and a tranny for about 100$ but these places requires you to do the labor of taking them off.
