d16y6 swapped dx hatch questions

so im buying a 99 dx hatch tomorrow for $2k

but it has a d16y6 vtec engine but vtec isnt wired up. (trust me its a y6...yes i know they are only available in europe...it is a d16y6) im assuming it has the stock ecu for a dx so what ecu do i need for a d16y6? that way i can wire up vtec. or can i use the ecu from my 2000 ex temporarily?

other things about the car
im buying it cuz ive always wanted an ek hatch but i spun a rod bearing in my ex. so instead of paying 2000 for a new d16y8 im buying the hatch till i can afford the engine in my ex.

anyways the hatch has this done to it

header+exhaust (sounds horrible to be honest)
after market suspension (not sure brand or model but it handles pretty well)
intake (looks like an ebay)
short shifter (also looks ebay)
stage 1 clutch (dont know the brand, pedal is pretty stiff tho)

overall its pretty rough but new front and rear bumpers and new headlights (again might scavenge them from my coupe temporarily)
also the stereo is weird. its mounted by the cup holders in the bottom of the dash. i like it being there but theres a huge hole in the dash where the factory stereo was. any ideas what to put in the dash?

Re: d16y6 swapped dx hatch questions

wow i feel like an idiot lol. my bad its a d16y5 with a y8 head.
i read something about needing to use a 4 wire o2 sensor (vs the y5s 7 wire wideband) and some different iacv then u can use a p2p ecu? anyone know anything about y5's? lol i know they have vtec-e but thats about it.
