Which would it be?

I was driving home today when my transmission stopped shifting gears, like neutral for all the gear position but when I waited a few min and restarted it, i could drive but not for long.
Could it be bad/wrong trans fluid or not using ATF
Bad solenoid or sensor or ecu/tcu

Re: Which would it be?

Is the fluid full?
Does it make an odd whine noise now?

I bet it needs a trans.

Re: Which would it be?

P0715: Mainshaft speed sensor. This code can be related to a mechanical failure or an electrical failure.
HINT: You had a mechanical failure. Trans went to neutral = shafts not moving = no speed sensor output.
This info may or may not apply to your case: http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/Ho...023457_zzz.pdf

I still bet it needs a trans.

P0700 is a generic trans fail code. See the P0715.
P0118 ECT high
P0113 IAT high
P1298 ELD fault
Erase codes and then see what comes back before doing anything else. Only deal with the codes that come back.

No codes now and a whine noise near the intake manifold.

Re: Which would it be?

Ummm....Drive it until the trans acts up (goes to neutral?) and recheck for codes.

I'm expecting a whine or squeal from the trans pump whenever the internal filter is restricted.

P0700 and P0715 codes now, could the internal filter inside the trans be restricted.

That's probably why it goes to neutral, then will go again after you shut it off and wait a minute. I'll assume this is what it is right now...
This is not the failure, this is a symptom.
Whatever came apart and is clogging the filter is the failure.

Debris gets sucked up while fluid is moving, until enough is sucked up to restrict the pump-lower pressure to the point that the hydraulics can't apply. Trans goes to neutral.
You shut it off and wait.
The debris drops away from the filter, straight down. Start the car, it will move again until the debris gets sucked up again.

Again: a clogged filter is an indication of a much larger problem.

The internal filter is like a screen door screen. If one clogs up, there is a major problem that did it.

Clutch material is usually what clogs a filter like this.

How fuzzy was the magnet when you changed the fluid?

I STILL bet it will get a trans.

Re: Which would it be?

The magnet had a good amount of metal on it, nothing abnormal.

I use factory service info.
That said, I don't do automatic trans overhauls anymore, Honda prefers us to just replace them with reman units. The shop doesn't even have any tools to do one, Honda does not make them required tools.

Back when I did trans work on other car lines, this was one of the better suppliers
http://www.transtar1.com/

If you purchase an overhaul kit from these folks, they were always good about getting rebuild manuals and tools that you need too.
Don't forget to replace the torque converter.
