6th Gen Civic EX Modding

Hi all im new here and to Honda customization in general. I currently have a 5th gen EX but am looking to upgrade to a 6th gen with no rust etc. I'm thinking about turboing after i get it. I'm just starting to gather information as far as what i should be looking for in engines and later turbo kits etc. i dont have a huge amount of money and there for if i could boost my horse power with out having to do an engine build that would be best. I'm looking for somthing between 225 and 300. Any input on what turbo, intercooler, etc i would want is helpful. Also on the boost that a stock engine can take etc, im totally new to this so all info is good...

I am not that familiar with boosting and what not, i would suggest doing a search, a lot of people do it, however I do know that it is expensive so if money is tight boosting your car is going to be tough..

If your going to boost a D series motor its going to have issues unless you do some work to it.

Best motor I have seen to boost is the D16z6 from the 92-95 civic's.

These have a better bottom end and less chance of issues. The D16y7 and 8 I have seen to many of them punch rods through the block and thats with out boosting.

Re: 6th Gen Civic EX Modding

7-10 pounds i dont think will get you the HP your looking for tho.. with boosting stock you at least should replace injectors, you should at least chip the ECU.. small boost will give like 150-175hp... someone correct me if i am wrong but that is my take on it..

Try a search on this site for builds..or even check out..Dseris.org..its all about boosting.

You will need better bearings to start with as stock ones don't handle the forced induction for long.

Thicker head gasket to lower the compression. Forced induction creates positive pressure so you don't need as high of compression. Doing a turbo or supercharger on a stock head gasket just puts more stress on rings and valve seals.

Bigger injectors, Remap, Wide band o2 sensor, New map sensor.

So much more you need to do it right. It can be done cheap but wont last long.
