Emissions aren't regulated federally, they're provincial programs.

You should be fine if you have a cat and the emissions are within tolerances.

Yeeaaa don't worry too much about intakes and **** like that. It will pass emissions like Austin said above. Just be careful with headlights, catalytic converters, lowering, window tint and stuff like that because police will look for it and there are allowable tolerances on those things. They are tightening the grip around here on street racing, so they are pulling over modified cars for inspection constantly. Drives me crazy because a group of people spoiled it for the rest of us by racing and killing people on the streets

Yea i totally agree. i have the cold air intake simply because i dont have to floor the car as hard to achieve the same accelleration and I like the sound :P.
It sucks when your heart is in a good place and you still get busted for "association". Thanks tho. Also i was under the impression i had to do inspection and emissions together but apparently its just emissions every two years after you have already had the car certified initially.

Certification is pretty simple.. Basically it means you can't have any holes in the body, all door handles have to work, windows have to go down. Brakes and tires have to be within spec and stuff like that. It's basically all safety stuff and it really doesn't include intakes and stuff like that. Funny thing is like you've said, once youve passed it you never have to do it again. I'm sure there are thousands and thousands of unsafe cars on the roads.
